The coyote trotted up the slope from the Hayden Valley. He was partially concealed when he threaded his way through the dense brush lower in the valley, and hundreds of people at nearby valley overlooks excitedly mistook him for the famous white wolf of the area. (I admit that, at first, when the coyote was mostly hidden in the brush, I gave into wishful wolf thinking, too.)
